The underwater scooter that changes a boat day completely

Mocivox · Summer Gadgets · Marco

Classic Malta scenario. Boat anchored at Comino. Turquoise water, stunning seabed five metres down. Half an hour of swimming to get there — or two minutes with this.

The underwater scooter is exactly what it sounds like: an electric thruster you hold with both hands that pulls you through the water without effort. Silent, compact, works down to 40 metres. You grab it, dive, explore. Pass it to a friend. Repeat all day.

I first came across it on a boat in Thailand. A guy disappeared underwater with it and reappeared three minutes later on the other side of the bay with a GoPro full of footage. That was the moment I knew this was something I had to bring to Europe.

No licence needed. No diving experience needed. You just need to know how to swim and be curious about what's underneath.

Prices range from €220 to €800 depending on how deep you want to go and for how long. For a day out on a boat with friends, the 500W model with 40-50 minutes of battery is more than enough — take turns and it never runs out.
